B.C.’s labour minister is suggesting economic aid for the tourism and hotel sectors might be contingent on businesses promising to give laid off employees the first crack at any jobs. Harry Bains made the comments with the release of a report he’d commissioned into how COVID-19 affected severance, seniority and job recall rights for tens of thousands of hotel and tourism employees since the sector was disrupted by the pandemic in March.
