Changes to eTA and visitor visa requirements for Mexican citizens

As of 11:30 p.m. ET on February 29, 2024, Mexican citizens travelling to Canada will need to meet new requirements to travel to Canada.

Before you can travel to Canada, you need to either:

- apply and be approved for an eTA under the new rules, or

- apply and be approved for a visitor visa

Canada's top doctor is calling on people to check that they're fully immunized with two doses of the measles vaccine before heading out of the country.

Global health authorities are reporting a significant increase in measles in 2023 that continues, due in part to a decline in measles vaccinations during the pandemic.

CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) says a recent member survey has unveiled concerning statistics regarding the lack of travel insurance awareness and preparedness. Despite the financial risks associated with travelling unprotected, the survey found that 40 percent of CAA members in Ontario who travel don’t always purchase emergency medical travel insurance, highlighting a potential vulnerability.
