Tentative deal reached for Canada's border workers, averting possible job action

A tentative agreement has been reached for over 9,000 workers at Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), averting potential job action later this week.

Tuesday's deal comes on the heels of a second job action extension announced on Monday that could have seen it proceed on Friday at all ports of entry.

What Route Will Car Rental Rates take In The Coming Year?

Car rental rates are expected to stabilize after more than three years of volatility, according to a new report released today from American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT), however, Ground Monitor 2024-2025 projects rates in Canada to still increase by 3.4% in the period ending March 2025.

The report also states that Montreal, Toronto, and Calgary may see moderately higher growth rates as a result of the higher costs associated with providing and staffing city car rental locations.

Mexico Flight Capacity Trended Higher in Early 2024

More than 39 million passengers traveled on national and international flights into and within Mexico between January and April of this year, according to Ministry of Tourism data. Passenger capacity on domestic flights increased by 16.8 percent while international flight capacity grew by 19.9 compared with the same period in pre-pandemic 2019.

A total of 39,893,000 million traveled on Mexico flights said Miguel Torruco Marqués, secretary of tourism. Domestic flight passengers totaled 19,111,000 passengers, while 20,782,000 passengers traveled on international flights.

FAA Sues Unruly Passenger Who Was Duct Taped to Seat

It can be costly to be unruly on an airline. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is suing a woman for almost $82,000 for striking a flight attendant and attempting to open a door during a 2021 incident.

The woman, Heather Wells, was flying on American Airlines. At one point, the lawsuit claims that she had to be restrained to a seat via duct tape during a flight in first class from Dallas to Charlotte.
