| Flying your dog into the US just got a lot harder | Source: The Street | While the rules for bringing pets on domestic flights lie squarely with airlines, transporting pets internationally is subject to much stricter border laws on animal control — ones that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just tightened. While previous laws did not distinguish canines based on age, all dogs entering the United States by airport, land or sea crossing as of August 1, 2024 must be at least six months of age. Other new requirements include having to be microchipped with their vaccination records and owner’s details, having a filled-out CDC Dog Import Form that the owner can present and appearing “healthy upon arrival." |

The Kayak report is based searches made for travel dates between May 17 and Sept. 3, 2024 The report shows South America as a popular vacation destination for Canadians, seeing searches for the area up 31 per cent from 2023. This coincides with a 14 per cent year-over-year drop in average airfare for the region. |

What to know | Source: Global News | The wildfire forecast for May said that both Saskatchewan and Alberta are at high or extreme fire severity for the month. | New Airfare Refund Regulations A Win For Consumers | Source: Travel Weekly | The new refund rules will take effect in late October. In some respects, the changes aren't major. Airlines are already required to provide refunds to passengers upon request for flights that are canceled or "significantly delayed." But the new regulations will require airlines to proactively notify flyers that they are entitled to a refund before offering flight credits or a rescheduled itinerary. In addition, the DOT rules says that refunds must be issued by default if a customer does not respond to airline communications. |
