Airline analyst says he'd be 'genuinely surprised' if Air Canada, pilots reach agreement on Saturday Sept. 14

The countdown is on for Air Canada and its pilots to reach a deal, as both sides will be in a position to issue a 72-hour notice of a strike or lockout at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday. Most travellers are hoping for a miracle agreement soon, but airline industry analyst Karl Moore believes pilots are likely to strike.

Tourism takes a hit in the Okanagan: ‘It’s been very slow’

It was far from a banner summer for tourism in the Okanagan. Despite fewer wildfire impacts this year, hotel occupancy was down in a number of tourism hotspots.

Tourism Kelowna wasn’t available for comment, but in an email stated that summer data won’t be available for a few more weeks.

While that will paint a more accurate picture of how the season went, many tourism operators said they don’t need numbers to know it was much slower season.

US Proposes Delay of REAL ID Requirements Until May 2027

One major issue with the ID requirement is that more than 124 million people still do not have compliant IDs. DHS estimates states and territories have issued approximately 162 million REAL ID-compliant IDs - or 56 percent of all state IDs.

Gas prices in Canada drop to lowest national average since February

Prices fell 3.4 cents per litre between Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, marking a sixth-consecutive week of declines. While U.S. crude prices (CL=F) plunged this week to their lowest level since 2021, GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan says seasonality is a big factor behind falling pump prices.
