Whether the impetus is staff turnover, dissatisfaction with a current provider, or the need for more sophisticated technology and rental strategies, choosing the right partner is a decision that is crucial to the resort’s future.

According to Statistics Canada, 2026 first-quarter tourism spending in Canada saw a 5.6 per cent increase year over year, with financial totals reaching $29.5 billion.
“We are having increased Americans take advantage of the Canadian dollar and we are seeing increased Canadians stay home,” said Buckland. “And we are seeing international visitors come and stay longer.”
As Americans visit Canada, Canadians continue to travel within their home country. Statistics Canada also reported domestic spending reached $23.5 billion during the first three months of 2026.

Has the plunge in Canadians’ cross-border travel bottomed out? Perhaps, given that data shows that U.S. visitation has ticked up since April.
But it might be too early to tell if this uptick indicates that Canadian sentiment toward its neighbor is on the mend, or whether numbers will continue to improve.
While Canadians’ cross-border travel started growing for the first time in 15 months this past spring, the drive market is pulling all the weight.

Younger Travelers Are Becoming Timeshare’s Most Vocal Advocates

Vacation ownership, also known as timeshare, may be enjoying a reputational lift with younger buyers. New research suggests Millennials and Gen Z are bringing fresh momentum to the category by seeing ownership as a flexible, high-value way to keep travel central to their lives.
One reason younger owners may be less skeptical is that many of them already know the product. Their first impression is often not an abstract sales pitch. It is a real stay, in a real resort, with more room than a standard hotel room.

The U.S. Visa Bond Program is now permanent, shifting a once‑temporary pilot into a long‑term tool aimed at reducing overstays among certain B‑1/B‑2 travellers.
The rule, which came into effect on 03AUG, two days before the original pilot was supposed to end, applies to visitors from 50 mostly African countries, where Washington says overstay rates and screening gaps remain a concern.
The bond amounts themselves are now higher. The original USD$5,000 tier is gone, replaced with $10,000, $15,000 and $20,000 levels set by consular officers based on individual risk, according to officials.

The wildfire emergency remains severe in Ontario, and reinforcements are also coming from abroad to help fight the advancing flames: on Wednesday, 100 Mexican firefighters arrived and they are now working alongside Ontario crews to protect communities and forests from wildfires in the northwestern part of the province.
Ontario Natural Resources Minister Mike Harris also personally thanked the Mexican firefighters today in an X/Twitter post featuring a video (here below) by Ontario Forest Fires: “A huge thank you to Mexico for sending firefighters and agency representatives to support Ontario during this challenging wildfire season. Your willingness to stand alongside us reflects the strength of international cooperation and the shared commitment to keeping people safe.”
